How To Help
Placer County Health and Human Services, in collaboration with the Placer Consortium on Homelessness, is planning a Resource Fair: “Placer Empowering People.” This event will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2016, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Auburn Renewal Center at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 12225 Rock Creek Drive, in Auburn (behind Target).
This Resource Fair focuses on some of the most vulnerable citizens of our community, including people who are low-income, homeless, at-risk of being homeless, uninsured, under-insured and at-risk youth. By having all these resources represented in one place, under one roof, we can begin to help these individuals to become more stable and self-sufficient and offer hope for more promising futures. Our goal is to provide direct services and information at this event including but not limited to: food; medical, vision and dental care; flu shots; rabies vaccinations and micro-chipping; benefits eligibility; utility and housing assistance; legal guidance; identification (Social Security and DMV); counseling and mental health services; credit and financial advice; phones; veteran services; education and employment information; and more.
We appreciate any donations of items such as new packages of socks and underwear for men and women, single rolls of toilet paper, pet supplies (food, leashes and collars), travel-size hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, tissues, etc.). We also seek gently used: long underwear, gloves, men’s jeans, workbooks, jackets (men/women), backpacks and duffle bags.
Donations will be collected by event volunteers and delivered to the SDA Auburn Renewal Center, or you can drop them off there yourself on Tuesdays 9 am – 1 pm. They may also be dropped off at: The Gathering Inn, 201 Berkeley Ave., Roseville, CA 95678, M-F 9 am- 4 pm.
The Tax ID number for this event is #68-0260677. Receipts for all donations are available by emailing office@aubsda.net. Please check out our PEP website: http://placer.ca.gov/pep.
