Gathering Inn
PLEASE NOTE: The Auburn shelter in DeWitt Center is now being run by the Gathering Inn. If your Google search has led you to this page, please know that although we support the Gathering Inn in a number of ways, we are NOT the shelter. If you need to contact the Shelter, please call: 530.885.8840 for more information. We hope to have this resolved soon. Thank you . (Aug. 28, 2018)
Once a month our church, FCCA/UCC, hosts a night’s lodging in Overmiller Hall for guests of TGI. Members of our service “Boards” and volunteers from the congregation and community prepare a wonderful and nutritious meal, usually accompanied by musical entertainment. Three times a week TGI guests in Auburn are provided the supervised use of our shower facilities. Everyone in our church family is invited to participate in this community mission.
The Gathering Inn (TGI) is a nonprofit organization offering a community-based response to the homeless population of South Placer County. With the assistance of more than 60 local and nearby churches, guests are provided a nutritious meal and a safe place to sleep nightly. Working to provide physical, mental and spiritual respite and restoration for homeless men, women, and children, case management and other social services at the Roseville campus, support and encourage TGI guests to be active participants of their communities to the best of their ability.
A rigorous intake and oversight process, provided by paid staff, includes screening for TB, sobriety and behavioral assessment, provision of showers and clean clothes, transportation to overnight accommodations at participating churches, continual monitoring and coordination during overnight stays, and access to employment services.
